Sandycove Garden Room
Garden room
One of our smaller projects in scale, yet one of the most exacting in detail, this garden studio is conceived as a compact and highly flexible retreat.
Designed to accommodate work, rest, and gathering, the space integrates a fully concealed pull-down bed within bespoke birch plywood joinery, allowing it to shift effortlessly from studio to guest accommodation. A blackened polished concrete floor grounds the interior, while a large circular window punctuates the façade, framing a focused view and drawing soft, natural light into the room.
Externally, black-clad timber wraps the structure, contrasting with the warmth of the exposed timber framing that defines the adjoining terrace. An outdoor kitchen and retractable awning extend the studio’s footprint into the garden, creating a sheltered, adaptable space for year-round use.
Though modest in size, the project demonstrates how careful detailing and material clarity can elevate a small footprint into a richly considered architectural intervention.
