A new house on a  side garden site

Constructed within the side garden of an existing house, this infill dwelling transforms a constrained site into a confident and carefully resolved home. Tight boundaries and planning limitations informed a strategic design approach, shaping a compact yet light-filled layout that maximises space, privacy, and orientation.

The material palette is deliberately robust and understated: charcoal brick laid with crisp white mortar gives texture and depth to the façades, while a standing seam metal roof provides a refined, contemporary silhouette.

Although clearly legible as a standalone dwelling, the house is scaled and proportioned to sit comfortably within the established streetscape. Its form mediates between old and new, asserting its own identity while respecting the rhythm and character of its surroundings.
